What is a Vanpool? 

Vanpools offer a comfortable, reasonably priced transportation alternative for groups of 4 to 14 people who share similar commute patterns. A commuter vehicle is driven by one of the members of the group and passengers are picked up and dropped off at agreed upon locations and times. Expenses are shared by the riders and subsidized by the SSTMA, and sometimes employers too. When more riders participate, the cost for everyone decreases – it can cost you as little as $150 per month.

South Shore Transportation Management Association and Commute with Enterprise 

South Shore TMA and Commute with Enterprise have partnered to provide vanpool options to commuters in the greater Lake Tahoe, South Shore Regions. This partnership supports South Shore TMAs commitment to expanded shared mobility options for residents and employees who commute in or out of the service area.

How Does Commute With Enterprise Work?

We connect employees who live near each other and provide them with a recent-model van or SUV. Riders commute together, saving money and freeing up time to relax or catch up on work. It’s an easy way to start and end the day in a better mindset.

Commute With Us For These Benefits

  • Available for commuters starting or ending in South Lake Tahoe.
  • Eligible vanpools can receive  $600 monthly subsidy per vehicle from South Shore TMA.
  • Maintenance, insurance and roadside assistance are included.
  • Less wear and tear on your personal vehicle or an option for those without reliable transportation.
  • Month-to-month flexibility.
  • Emergency Ride Home program included.

Congratulations to Harrah’s and Harveys (Caesars Entertainment) and the Caesars employees who have joined vanpools to get to and from work. To date, three vanpools are operating from the Carson Valley, three from Carson City, and one from Reno. Vanpools are a great way for employers to help recruit and retain employees who now have a more efficient, less expensive way to commute to and from work.
